What is AOA?

AOA is a 2013 Warhammer 40,000 (40k) campaign that see’s 40kuk community take up the challenge to collect a new army from scratch with the aim of attending their first tournament with it towards the end of the year.

Who can join?

BJ the Brave 40kuk presenter will run the campaign and be starting a Tau Empire army. Anyone who listens to the podcast and can meet the ‘Commitment Criteria’ is able to join in the campaign. EMAIL YOUR NAME WITH FIRST MONTHS ENTRY – WHAT ARMY YOU ARE COLLECTING to ageofarmies@gmail.com

Commitment Criteria

  • Able to spend upto £50 per month on your army.
  • Able to build and paint £50 worth of models per month.
  • Play games as your army progresses  and report on what you learned.
  • Post images of your progress once per month to  ageofarmies@gmail.com
  • Be prepared to talk about your army progress through Skype recording (doesn’t have to be every month)

How does it work?

Each month you spend £50 on new models for your army. If you spend £44 one month then the next month you can spend £56 for example. You build and paint your army and can come up with themes, back-stories etc if you like. As your army builds you can play a series of small games for example some 500point / 750point / 1000point games to document your progress and gain experience with the different units. Once per month you send a report on your months modelling / painting / gaming progress (and please share painting techniques as well as tactical advice for units)  This will go up on the 40kuk.com blog & Facebook pics.

Towards the end of the year October/November-ish, a tournament will be announced as the one that the Age of Armies Campaign will attend. You should then do all you can to attend this tournament with your new army. I will contact the organisers to try and reserve all campaign participants a place and maybe even some tournament discount or bonus J Tweet your progress we want to hear how you are getting along throughout the month!

Quick question, does it have to be £50 in value, or £50 worth of product?

For example if I can pick up £50 worth of stuff on eBay for £10 would that still fulfil the criteria?

I was thinking that… Ive gone with prices on the GW website. Decisions on which army go for now…

Thanks BJ that gives a bit more scope for saving cash, alternative minis, conversions etc… 🙂

When is the campaign beginning and what is the first deadline?

Whats the points value for the tournament. Its just I don’t want to spend a fortune on nice models to find that they don’t in fact make the points limit

We will probably aim for a tournament that is 1750 or 1850 pts around October November time.

First deadline is Wednesday 3rd April
