Another great one guys, it will be very interesting to see how Gary does at the tournament you are going to next weekend. The Nightbringer was really unlucky – if there was anyone that was going to beat him it was Mephiston.

Another great show guys, after listening to Sharan’s segment I am very tempted to enter my first tournament. Any suggestions?

Really looking forward to the Warp Storm coverage xx

perhaps you could consider the ‘Battle of the Chumps’ (BOTCH) in July.

This will have plenty of players and you are likely to meet some good guys and learn alot about what works well at a tournament…

think you can still get a ticket for this!

      • Neil Kerr June 14, 2011 at 17:17 #

Aye you can. We are selling tickets up until 24th July so if you are interested follow this link for more info: http://flameon.co.uk/index.php?option=com_agora&task=viewtopic&id=3735&Itemid=59

Obviously I am somewhat biased being the organiser but I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to enter their first tournament as due to the comp rules (and my big stick) it is quite a bit more relaxed than some other highly competitive events.

Well I’ll embarrass Neil here, he ran the UK GT earlier in the year and it was a great tournamant. So anything with him at the wheel would be a good first tourney to attend.

Liked it guys – though not so sure how viable the Guard Fast Attack Choices are. They are like the ginger step child to the Vendetta.

    • 40KUK June 15, 2011 at 01:24 #

Maybe for some, in a way they can be. But for me, they are a viable option depending on your whole strateg. The other thing is if they were in any other codex’s fast attack choices then they would be first choice.

Great Podcast guys – your really ‘rocking it’.

I totally agree with you about sentinels. I take 2 squads of 2 and they wreak havoc.

    Keep us the good work.

    • 40KUK June 15, 2011 at 01:46 #

Oh yeah, I played a good imperial guard player called Chris Waller at the Throne of Skulls and they were the best thing in his army for that battle.

Ace podcast as usual guys. Looking forward to Dave’s Warpstorm coverage, especially his thoughts about his 6th game 😉

Shame about the Nightbringer getting force weapon’d, though with GW clarifying that Mephiston cannot try to cast failed powers (when I say clarify I mean agree with me), that double 6 for S10 could have made a massive difference.

Oh and I thought Nightbringer was NOT an IC and therefore cannot be transfixing gazed. At least I am sure he cannot join other Necron units (yes I know as usual I am nit picking at you Nathan).

    • 40KUK June 15, 2011 at 01:22 #

Why oh why would that be the case – now I’m going to get a whole load of emails. We may have to do a rematch in the future.

    Great show.

    • 40KUK June 15, 2011 at 01:44 #

      Thank you buddy,

  7. Jack Chapman June 14, 2011 at 21:58 #

I totally agree with Niel, in fact that one power could have decided the whole fight.

(Also your total disregard for fire safety makes me laugh, BJ could have been burning to death lol)

Finally, I love the show and have been watching since day one and will continue to watch XD

    • 40KUK June 15, 2011 at 01:54 #

Thanks mate, though I am sorry to say that we have recorded segments in which Mr BJ makes a habit of making strange noises to interupt.

  8. Matt Kirk June 15, 2011 at 20:28 #

Couldn’t listen to the show with ol nighty’s fight without making a comment!! Clearly there needs to be a rematch here after such an abuse of Mephiston’s Strength 10 ability. Referee? Ok … to be fair 9/10 he passes the leadership check anyway but all his S10 ignores invulnerable attacks on the charge might have at least evened up the fight! To be fair though … It’s probably best the C’tan stays out of trouble for the moment until we see what’s occurring with a new dex.

Great show as always mate! Looking forward to hearing about Warpstorm!

    • Matt Kirk June 15, 2011 at 20:30 #

Oh and doesn’t fearless mean that you are assumed to pass ALL leadership checks? Not a dig btw, it is just as likely I have been getting that rule wrong.

      • Neil Kerr June 17, 2011 at 00:43 #

Unfortunately you are. Fearless units do not, for example, automatically pass psychic tests or Bonesword tests. Fearless just means you automatically pass moral (so testing to see if you break from combat or shooting) and pinning.

  9. Matt Kirk June 17, 2011 at 07:15 #

Ahhh, cheers mate. That does sort of make more sense to be fair. Especially when u consider psychic tests. Thanks for that.

  10. Franco June 17, 2011 at 17:39 #

The re-rolled psychic test for str10 was the only real guff in that fight in fairness, and if the only guff in ‘The Big Fight’ is something Mephy passes 91.2% of the time anyway I reckon it’s forgiveable. And how outdated is the Necron Codex? Well Meph can use his gaze on the Nightbringer legitimately because he’s an independent character, that’s how outdated. He’s an IC who can’t join units. Yeah.

    • Matt Kirk June 17, 2011 at 18:35 #

That’s a fair one, I did mean it a bit tongue in cheek when I said they needed to rerun the fight… Mephy is a much better character and Nighty does need a tad of an udate before he competes with the likes of Gazzy and Mephy. I just felt I needed to stick up for the Star Gods as being nuked before blows were strike was damned ungodly! Looking forward to Eldrad’s outing next week!
